Birth of Pizza " a short story"

Journey back to the birth of pizza with my story!

In the days before thermometers, bakers relied on a clever method to ensure a successful bake.
They slapped chunks of dough into flat discs to place into their wood-fired ovens to gauge temperature. 

Then, they adjusted the heat source based on which side of the dough cooked first to balance the oven temperature.

If the top of the dough cooked first, they spread coals to increase the bottom temperature,
If the dough's bottom cooked first, they created flames to increase the oven vault temperature.

 


 

From this tradition, pizza emerged — a beloved dish celebrated for its simplicity and timeless appeal.
Over time, pizza toppings evolved depending on what people had on hand.

Pizza became a canvas for creativity and culinary exploration
from the classic Neapolitan trio of tomato, mozzarella,
and basil to adventurous combinations like Hawaiian ham and pineapple.
